Veronika Sedlmair(1985) and Brynjar Sigurðarson(1986) form together a German - Icelandic studio, currently based in Berlin, Germany.
Since 2011 the studio has been creating a body of work driven from theatrical and natural references. Their practice may often link to anthropology and geology. They use various media such as drawings, photography, video, sound and objects in order to convey their work in a fruitful and a specific way.

A big part of their work deals with the Icelandic fishing and harbor environment, started with a one month stay in a remote fishing village in the NE of Iceland, called Vopnafjörður. Since the trip, they have continuously worked on “exercises” and examinations on how to translate shapes, materials and details from the harbor and the coastal environment.

The objects vary from furniture with abstract functions, sticks arranged with ropes and collected objects, porcelain pebble stones, ocean like glass vases and furniture referring to the fishing harbors in Iceland.

Their foremost goal is to look and investigate cultural values and translate them in the shape of objects.

Current and recent studio projects include work for brands and galleries such as Galerie kréo, Paris, CIRVA, Marseille, Porcelain Manufacture de Sèvres, Paris, PCM-Design, Spark Design Space and Camper. Brynjar’s documentary, Borgþór Sveinsson, was presented at the Art Film Festival in Den Bosch, Holland and was recently acquired as part of the permanent collection of MAK, Vienna.

Last year their work was awarded with the Swiss Design Awards, Hublot Design Prize and this years Swarovski Designer of the Future Award at Design Miami/Basel.
Currently, the studio is working on various projects ranging from self-produced objects sold from the studio, furnitures, and a new instrument and a musical performance with Fondation d'entreprise Galeries Lafayette, Paris.
